Temporary food facility permit
A temporary food facility permit authorizes the sale or distribution of food at a temporary event such as a festival, farmers' market, or community fundraiser in the Town of Grand Island.
You need this permit if you…
- Sell or give away food at a temporary event (1–25 days)
- Operate a food booth, stand, or tent at a public gathering
- Are a nonprofit distributing food at a community event
You do NOT need this permit if…
- You are selling only prepackaged, commercially manufactured food (chips, bottled water)
- The event is a private party with no public access
- You already hold a permanent food facility permit at the same location
What this permit allows
Preparation, cooking, and service of food to the public at a specific event and location. The permit is valid for the duration of the event, up to 25 consecutive days.

What to include with your application
- Event name, dates, and location
- Menu of all food items to be served
- Food preparation and storage plan
- Proof of nonprofit status (if requesting reduced fee)

If your permit is denied
You may appeal a denial in writing within 15 business days. Appeals are reviewed by the Environmental Health Director within 30 days.
