Does my dog need a license?

Yes. New York State requires every dog 4 months or older to be licensed in the town where it lives.

How much does a dog license cost?

A license is $20 a year. There is no fee for a service animal.

What do I need to get or renew a license?

Proof that your dog's rabies vaccination is up to date. Bring the certificate from your vet, or upload it if you renew online.

How often do I renew?

Every year. You get a new tag each time you renew.

My dog lost its tag. What do I do?

Call or email the Town Clerk and we will send a replacement tag.

I moved or my dog died. Do I need to tell you?

Yes, please let the Town Clerk know so we can update or close your dog's record.
